Purr Force: Scratch & Rescue is a fast-paced, real-time grid strategy game where you command cat firefighters to protect forests and homes from wildfire. Built in Unity during the Indiecade Climate Jam 2025, the game challenges players to respond quickly, manage resources, and utilize special abilities—all under intense time pressure.
Designed and implemented the grid manager: Used Unity’s ScriptableObjects so tiles are flexible and easy to modify, making level design much faster for everyone on the team.
Connected the level editor to the grid system: Set things up so new maps could be made and tweaked in seconds—no more hand-editing code or data, just drag-and-drop design.
Built the fire manager: Coded the wildfire spread and destruction logic. This means the fire’s behavior is dynamic and unpredictable, which made the core gameplay both fair and exciting.
Linked up the ability system with the UI: Integrated player powers with Unity’s visual UI, and created a custom mouse cursor so using abilities felt smoother and more fun.
Cross-discipline sync: Coordinated with artists and designers to align UI visuals and hook up UX events to game logic.
